A real headline-maker of an investor, Mrs Kao Ching Fong Nee Pan is Finance Director, Executive Director, and the third-largest shareholder of investment holding company, San Teh Limited. Time and again, news reports have revealed how her purchases made an impact on San Teh’s trading volume, and she continues to make stock market waves today.

Mrs Kao had several years of accounting experience when she joined San Teh in the early 80’s. Since then, she has seen to the company’s finances and administration. San Teh engages in property development, as well as PVC pipes and fittings. It was the first Taiwanese business to be listed at the Singapore Exchange.

Substantial Shareholder

Owning 9.51% of the company’s shares, Mrs Kao comes in after the Estate of San Teh founder, Mr Kao Shin Ping and the Kao Shin Ping Family to round off the company’s top three substantial shareholders.

Asia Insider reported in May 2015 how she, together with San Teh non-executive director, Mr Gui Kim Young, accounted for 69% of the company’s trading volume. Mrs Kao had been buying up the company’s shares 110,000 and 502,000 at a time, at an average of 29.1 cents each. Those trades alone accounted for 59% of the trading volume of the stock. That she makes her purchases in the wake of a rebound in San Teh’s share price shows her knack for timing her trades.

In June 2016, The Business Times reported on how Mrs Kao increased her deemed San Teh holdings to 84.177 million shares or 24.61% of the issued capital. At the time, she also had a direct interest of 32.422 million shares or 9.48%. This time, she did her buying on the back of a drop in the company’s share price.
