Five Important Dates for February ㊗️
The Calm Before the Storm
February is round the corner. The mood seems to be sombre still with the recent passing of Aloysius Pang.
Just last week, I attended the Binance Blockchain Week at Marina Bay Sands. I sensed a certain air of anticipation with a much subdued community.
Perhaps, it’s the calm before the storm?
Here are 5 key events that will shape the near-term markets:
#1 Super Bowl 🏈 3rd February
If the American Football Conference team wins, S&P 500 goes up 5.8% for the full year. In comparison, if the National Football Conference team wins, S&P 500 goes up 10.2% for the full year. Thus, a Super Bowl win for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots heralds disappointment in the stock market.
#2 Lunar Chinese New Year 🐷 5th & 6th February
According to the Chinese astrology, 2019 is a great year to make money 💰💰💰 and a good year to invest! An auspicious year because the Pig attracts success in all the spheres of life.
#3 US Government Shutdown ⛔ 15th February
President Donald Trump said another government shutdown is “certainly an option” and he thinks there’s a less than 50 percent chance a deal could be reached before the next government funding lapse on 15th February.
#4 SEC Decision on Bitcoin ETF ‼️ 27th February
With the ongoing partial US government shutdown, VanEck withdrew its application for Bitcoin ETF. The firm believed that with 90% of SEC staff furloughed, the commission had more reasons to either delay or reject the VanEck’s ETF filing.
#5 Ethereum Constantinople Rollout ❌ 27th February
It was postponed from 17th January to 27th February. What a coincidence falling on the same date with BTC ETF decision! Take a look at ETH prices today versus the Top 12 Cryptos… it’s a Red Sea.
Here’s the pertinent question for Spiking: when should we list on the exchange for live trading?
It’s a tough answer. I see many great projects getting clawed by the bears 🐾 in this hammered market.
If we were to list in today’s conditions, Spiking will most likely suffer the same fate. Or we can choose to watch the storm first in February; keep calm and list later.
